The Story of Naomi

Today’s post isn’t a ZeroVacancyGal original ; however it is culled from an email I received .

We can all learn from this story in the book of Ruth

Our pastor is going through this book in the bible, I would like to share my learnings with you.

( First paragraph ) We are faced with decisions in our life just as Naomi’s family did when they had to move from Bethlehem due to famine. The decisions sometimes carry dangers with it. This dangers could be cultural, environmental or disobedience to the heart of God. That said, there is a hidden hope in the decisional dangers because God travels with us and Gods promise awaits us when we hand it over or┬áreturn to him.

When our decisions result in loss , in the case of Naomi it was grief following the death of her husband and 2 sons. Loss can happen to us all, it does not go away easily, it can stay longer than we expect and it can change things in our life or relationships. We can respond to grief or loss in 3 ways – defeat , disengagement or determination. We see how Ruth was determined by insisting to follow Naomi to where ever she was going.

As said in the first paragraph, there is the hidden hope which comes as Grace. The Grace can be transforming ( Ruth says to Naomi, your God will be my God and your people my people), redemptive or amazing to rekindle our hope when it seems all is lost or has failed.

Read the book of Ruth, reflect and remember his promise in John 15 v 7

– If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
